Last night 60 Minutes aired a segment on Khanacademgy.org. For those of you unfamiliar, it is a website that was started by a man named Sal, who began by making YouTube videos that were educational/academic tutorials for a relative who lived a couple of thousands miles away. The videos went viral and now Khan Academy is one of the biggest buzz words in education.
Reviews are definitely mixed because everyone (rich people) have their hands in the pot (hoping this will be the solution). He is being financed by the Gates Foundation and Google and groups/people are hoping this is the way to change education. He has produced a couple thousand videos from algebra to history and his library continues to expand.
Take the next 14 minutes and educate yourself on this topic. It’s changing the way we look at learning and everyone is trying to get in on the action. When you’re finished check out the site Khanacademy.org because there is some really interesting and intriguing stuff happening.
